I reached back and finally pulled the trigger on something I’ve wanted for the last three years: a splitboard. Today, after finding a 15% coupon for backcountry.com, I purchased a brand new Voile Split Decision Freeride Snowboard. All the gory details are at http://www.backcountry.com/store/VOL0073/c7/s44/Voile-Split-Decision-Freeride-Snowboard.html.

What is a splitboard, you ask? According to wikipedia it is…

A splitboard is a snowboard that can be separated into two parts. The two parts can be used like skis with climbing skins to ascend slopes the same way alpine touring or telemark skis are used. The two halves can then be connected to form a regular snowboard for descent. It is primarily used for backcountry snowboarding.

According to me, a splitboard is…pure fun. Can’t wait for the season to get underway!
